Welcome to my digital portfolio!

A little bit about me:

I was born and raised in Oxnard, California where I devoted myself to school and sports. After high school, I moved to New York City where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and ran Cross Country and Track and Field at Columbia University. Through my Psychology program I developed a love for children and therefore pursued a career in teaching following my graduation.

Currently, I am in my second year off work after having a baby in January 2016. Before that, I taught for four years at the Escola Americana do Rio de Janeiro (EARJ) in Brazil. In total, I have eight years of teaching experience and six of those years have been in international schools outside the United States. I completed my graduate thesis on climate change curriculum in elementary schools and graduated with honors with a Master's of Science in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Fullerton.

With eight years of experience, I believe my strongest assets include my experience with numerous programs and curriculums, creating meaningful project-based learning opportunities, and my ability to create a classroom that embraces culture and world-mindedness.

My husband, Brian, is a high school history teacher and has a background in special education. Together, we have lived abroad for eight years and worked in two international schools, in addition to a few years teaching in New York City. We've greatly valued our past experiences, but now we look forward to applying our skillsets in a public school back "home" in the Western US.
